Using Art to Inspire Young Job Seekers

Using Art to Inspire Young Job Seekers

Helping job seekers is not all about resumes and job interviews – it’s also about building communication skills and networking.

This is why The Personnel Group runs regular activities sessions with the Albury Wodonga Community College, which incorporates Too Cool for School (2C4S) and Indie School. Recently, TPG had the pleasure of hosting a workshop with two local artists, Derek Murray and Katrina Wangman, along with two fine art students from 2C4S.

Together they taught TPG’s young participants how to produce a canvass with a story. Derek gave the group a very small induction into Indigenous history and what certain characters mean in Indigenous art. The TPG team all agreed that any type of expression of story through art isn't easy, and drawing and painting is a gifted talent. But, they did see some rising talent from their TtW participants and hope the workshop has encouraged them to pursue their artistic dreams.

The Personnel Group is one of three CoAct Service Partners who delivers the Transition to Work Programme, which helps young school leavers to find a pathway into employment. If you’d like to find out more about Transition to Work, click here.
